Solving problems

If you’re having trouble with Archiver, try these solutions.

Archiver keeps asking me for an output location
First choose Archiver > Preferences and click General, and make sure that “Output files to” is not set to “Ask me”. If it is set to “Same folder as input files”, it could be that your input file is stored on a read-only disk, such as a DVD. If set to a folder, make sure that folder is not on a read-only disk and that is not write-protected or locked.
Cannot open archives on Windows
Choose Archiver > Preferences and click Advanced. Select “Ignore Mac-specific files”. Then try creating the archive again.
My disk space decreases after I use Archiver
Archiver stores temporary files while performing tasks. These are usually removed automatically when an operation completes, but if Archiver quits unexpectedly could remain on your disk. To remove all temporary files created by Archiver, choose Action > Clean.
